Around Buxton

Corbar Bank, Buxton is central to the Peak District and offers visitors an excellent base from which to explore the area.

Buxton is a thermal spa town and the home of Buxton water. It is nestled in the centre of the beautiful Peak District and is the UK’s oldest national park.

There are stunning ornamental gardens and world-famous Georgian and Victorian architecture providing an impressive backdrop to a rich and vibrant range of music, theatre and festivals.  The town is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region and there are a wealth of independent shops, cafés, bars and restaurants alongside the attractions of Poole’s Cavern, Buxton Opera House and The Crescent Spa.

You will find pleasant local walks from Corbar Bank and for the more adventurous the open countryside of the Goyt Valley. We are happy to provide you with walking maps and advice on our favourite pubs, cycling and running routes.

There is a local Tourist Information Office in Buxton just a short walk from Corbar Bank where everything you need to know about the Peak District can be obtained.
